Passer un joyeux Noël ? La recette est simple finalement, il suffit d’avoir les bons ingrédients.

Tout d’abord, pas de Noël sans Père Noël. Le résident le plus célèbre de Rovaniemi est le protagoniste central à toute fête de Noël qui se respecte. Le choix s’offre alors à vous : du classique sage avec le Santa Claus d’Andy Warhol, du classique moins sage avec Paul McCarthy et son Santa Chocolate Shop, voire la série complète et monstrueuse des Santa (l’idéal pour faire comprendre à votre enfant que, non seulement le Père Noël n’existe pas, mais qu’en plus, il vaut mieux qu’il n’existe pas….), du plus-en-état-de-conduire-son-traineau avec The Last Days of Santa Claus de Biljana Djurdjevic, du disparu avec Sorrow letter for the disappearance of Santa Claus de Kostis Velonis ou du trop-tard-vous-n’aurez-pas-de-cadeaux-cette-année avec Père Noël, vision désenchantée d’Aymeric Ebrard.

Pour le sapin, le fournisseur officiel est John Armleder : All Night Party (Furniture Sculpture), Everything, Flower Power, Tate 08 Series…. L’artiste suisse met du sapin un peu partout mais de manière toujours aussi brillante, tant humoristiquement que conceptuellement. Vous pouvez aussi opter pour du Nordmann tranchant façon Christmas Tree de Shi Jinsong, de l’arbre de Noël abstractisé avec les plantations Air gets into everything even nothing and get up girl a sun is running the world d’Ugo Rondinone ou de l’arbre a vous en faire perdre la tête avec la renversante et géniale série Xmas Trees de Steven Shearer.

Après avoir acheté vos cadeaux dans l’excellente boutique Art & You (!) et apporter la bûche salvatrice, reste à amuser les enfants. Rien de mieux alors que de faire un petit bonhomme de neige. De l’iconique Bonhomme de neige de Pierre Ardouvin à l’humanisée Motherhood de Xenia Gnilitskaya, en passant par les versions stylisées travaillées à la manière du Unmelting Black (Snowman) de Gediminas Urbonas ou du Streched Snowman de Jonathan Seliger, laissez libre cours à votre imagination et si possible essayez d’atteindre la perfection formelle du Snowman Stories de Cindy Loehr. Il y en a décidemment pour tous les goûts : le ténébreux Snowman de David Ratcliff, le un-peu-kitsch-quand-même Spaceman with Snowman de Thomas Woodruff, le fou flou Bubbles and Snowman ou le poétique Snowman with fireworks, tous deux de Todd Hebert ou enfin le je-ne-vais-pas-tarder-à-disparaître-sous-la-pluie Snowman de Vladimir Dubosarsky & Alexander Vinogradov. Avant de vous lancer, on ne saurait trop vous conseiller la lecture du très bon recueil Snowmen de David Lynch.

Reste à planter le décor : de la neige avec les sérigraphies Sans Titre B d’Armleder encore lui (a t’on précisé qu’il était suisse ?), quelques sapins plongés dans la froideur blanche avec W.y.a.n par Luigi Presicce, le tout agrémenter de deux-trois rennes histoire de compléter le tableau : Luigi Presicce se propose également de vous les livrer pour la même occasion dans Cervo et Eremita.

Maintenant que vous êtes bien équipés, vous savez ce qu’il vous reste à faire : essayez de passer un joyeux noël et tentez de placer le nom de tous ces artistes lors du traditionnel repas familial. The Swiss artist puts fire trees everywhere but always on a clever manner, with humor and conceptual class. After having bought your presents on the great Art & You shop (!) and brought a saving Yule log, you have to play with the kids. Snowmen are the best option.
